Mt COTTON HILLCLIMB SERIES - ROUND 4 - 25 -  26 June, 2023

 

Cold conditions greeted all on the 24 and 25 June. This did not reduce the enthusiasm shown by the competitors on the weekend.

​

Fastest time went to Jim Milliner with his best run of 39.82 seconds in his OMS2000M from Brett Bull (Van Diemen RF03K, 40.42), James Strong (Jayton Mk3, 40.79), David Quelch (DPQ03, 41.67), Luke Weiks (Empire 1, 42.27), Matt Read (Readster MTR1, 42.55), Greg Tebble (Speads RM11, 43.54) and Mick Harders (Esprei KZ, 44.80 seconds).

Best time recorded from the Sports cars saw Jim Heymer record a 46.60 second time in his Farrell Clubman from Terry Sproston (Aussie Race Car, 48.50), Jeff Graham (supercharged Mazda MX-5, 48.54), Dave Roberts (MGB V8, 48.63) and Rod Thomas (Mazda MX-5, 49.09 seconds).

Ken Graham recorded the quickest time of the sedan drivers with a 45.96 second time in his Datsun 1600 SSS from Chris Ryan (Volkswagen Golf R, 46.49), Pauline Graham (Datsun 1600 SSS, 46.48) and Brendan Merrick (Datsun 120Y turbo, 47.67 seconds).

The Regularity class was won by Chris Lake (Toyota 86, 12 points) from Robert Morton (Daihatsu Handi, 18 points), Rob Souter (Toyota Corolla, 24), Shaun Rankin (BMW Z4, 26), Cassie McQuilken (Daihatsu Sirion, 47) with Chrystellee Semple (MG TF, 134 points).

David Quelch took the Top Six Shootout with his best time to date at 40.90 seconds from Jim Milliner (41.13), Luke Weiks (42.06), Greg Tebble (43.64), Ken Graham (46.38) and Mick Harders (46.39).

​

Neil Lewis drove some demonstration runs in his Fly001 with times of 43.43, 40.15, and 39.42 seconds.

​

Next hillclimb events are Round 5, scheduled for 29 and 30 July, the interclub on Saturday, 2 September and Round 6 on 25 and 26 November.
