MT COTTON HILLCLIMB SERIES- Round 6, 29 - 308 November, 2025

The final event for 2025 the predicted forecast was rain for the Saturday and hopefully a dry day for Sunday. Living up to 2025 conditions.

 

Entries for the weekend included Dean Amos (Australian Hillclimb Champion 2023, 2024 and2025), Dean Tighe (Australian Hillclimb Champion 2022; Australian Super Sprint Champion 2022, 2023 and 2025; current New South Wales and Victorian State Champion as well as previous Queensland and South Australian champion) and Ross Mackay (fastest at Inter Club events at Mount Cotton and Noosa)

​

There was light rain on Saturday thus those on non-treaded tyres kept their cars under cover. During a small window of a dry period Dean Tighe recorded a 40.16 time with Ross Mackay recording a 41.97 run, Jim Milliner (42.43 seconds) and Luke Weiks (45.56 seconds).

 

Fastest four of the[i] sedans were Adrian Purcell (47.93), Brendan Merrick (49.36), Waco Hamlin (50.16) and Steven Hampton (51.10). Michael Larymore was fastest of the Sports cars with a 48.08 run with Terry Sproston (49.33), Ben Stevens (50.24) and Ainsley Fitzgerald (51.38).

Fine conditions on Sunday saw Dean Amos record the Fastest Time of Day with a 36.89 time in his Gould GR55B with Dean Tighe (Empire Wraith turbo, 39.02), Ross Mackay (Macspec 024, 40.05), Jim Milliner (OMS 2000, 41.79), Luke Weiks (Empire 001, 42.01), Steven Woodbridge (Dallara F394, 42.48), Paul Van Wijk (OMS Hornet, 43.68), David Quelch (Homebuilt DPQ03, 43.73), Matt Read (Readster MTR1, 45.19) with Stan Pobjoy (VW Special, 45.57).​

Sports cars class winners were Michael Larymore (Toyota MR2 turbo, 48.08), Terry Sproston (Aussie Race Car, 47.18), Ainsley Fitzgerald (Arrow Clubman, 49.00), Jeff Graham (Mazda MX5, 49.63), and Ben Stevens (Lotus Elice, 48.41 seconds).

Class wins to Brock Bird (Hyundai i30, 56.24), Chris Balhatchet (Renault Megane turbo, 50.13), Brendan Merrick (Datsun 120Y turbo, 48.13), Warren Amos (Toyota Corolla, 56.50), Adrian Purcell (Subaru WRX, 47.93), Waco Hamlin (Honda Civic, 48.54), Jason Martell (Ford Escort, 52.30), Michael Bird (BMW E36 M3, 49.93) and Steven Hampton (Mitsubishi Evo X, 46.47).

Historic group wins to Ross Rundle Reynard Formula Ford 82 and David Malone in his Holden Torana GTR XU1. 

Regularity class resulted in a tie between Robert Martin (Daihatsu Handi) with Geoffrey Messing (MGB) from Lindsay Derriman (Toyota Starlet), Chris Lake (Toyota 86), Shaun Rankin (BMW Z4) then Rob Souter (Toyota Corolla).

Top Six Shootout Dean Amos (36.85), Ross Mackay (41.05), Jim Milliner 41.13), Steven Woodbridge (41.87) and Luke Weiks (42.43).

 

Dean Tighe having his final run before he will campaign his Empire Wraith in the 2026 British Hillclimb Championship, ended with a dropped cylinder. This of course is better to find the problem which can be repaired at home rather than overseas.
