MT COTTON HILLCLIMB  - Test 'n Tune and Come & Try - Saturday, 12 February, 2021
 

The Come & Try morning was attended by eleven enthusiastic new competitors to hill climbing. There was a mix of ages amongst them, with some having prior motorsport experience to some first timers who were attending their first motorsport event. All participants walked the track with some of the state best hill climbers, who were able to pass onto them some vital track information before they ventured onto the track in their own vehicles.

The improvement could be seen in all the new participants from the very first runs with an advisor in the passenger seat, through to the final runs with most participants driving themselves around the track with good control & enthusiasm.

Test & Tune Afternoon

The afternoon was attended by twenty-five drivers, being made up of many experienced regulars & some new drivers to the Mt Cotton venue. Being the first hit-out for the year, there was several of the country’s top car & driver combinations in attendance having their first shakedown with a strong focus being on the 2022 June Qld Hillclimb Championship as well as, the 2022 Australian Hill Climb Championships to be held at Mt Cotton in October.

Unfortunately, the weather played a part in this afternoon event, but drivers were still able to complete a good number of runs to gather vital early season data on dry / semi-dry & wet track surfaces.

A good number of spectators filled the hill to watch both the morning and afternoons activities.

Thanks to all drivers / officials & club members who helped out to make the day a successful event.
