MT COTTON HILLCLIMB SERIES- Round 5, 27 - 28 September, 2025

At last a hillclimb event without any threat of rain. The event on 27-28 September was held in wonderful Spring weather conditions. As the Australian Hillclimb Championships are scheduled for 9 – 12 October in South Australia this could be the final shootout to ensure all was ready for those who have entered the National event.
Lindsay Derriman won the Regularity class in his Toyota Vienta from Shaun Rankin (BMW Z4), Robert Martin (Daihatsu Handi), Geoff Messer (MGB) and Chris Lake (Toyota 86).

Class wins in the Historic groups went to Barry Smith (Ford V8 special), David Malone (Torana GTR XU1) and Ross Rundle (Reynard Formula Ford).
​
Quickest times in the Sports Car classes saw Jim Heymer record a 46.74 second run, Terry Sproston (47.92), Ben Stevens (48.25), Ainsley Fitzgerald (48.57), Jeff Graham (49.87), Dave Roberts (51.05) and Ian Power (54.83).

Fastest times for drivers in the various Sedan type cars saw Brendan Merrick (47.94), Sean Wade (48.27), Joshua Brown (48.44), Daniel Beahan (49.89), with class wins to Michael Bird (BMW E46 M3) , Michael Bradtke (Audi TT), Don Milner (Dolomite Sprint), Anthony Loveridge (VW Golf R32), and Jason Martell (Ford Escort). ​​
A good entry of Formula cars with the fastest ten being Dean Amos (36.82), Ross Mackay (39.83), Connor Tebble (40.00), Dean Tighe (40.60), Jim Milliner (41.50), Luke Weiks (42.20), David Quelch (43.18), Steven Woodbridge (43.52), Paul Van Wijk (43.63), Greg Tebble (43.77).
We saw Steve Woodbridge run the Dallara F394 for the first time at Mount Cotton, Natalie Fossey run the 450 cc Honda/Arrow Kart a different vehicle to the Toyota Camry and Holden Commodore.
Connor Tebble had the crowd with him as he improved his times during the Sunday runs with times of 42.90 seconds then 40.87, 40.27, 40.20, 40.02 and 40.00 seconds.

Top Six Shootout results were Dean Amos (38.62) with Ross Mackay (39.33), Jim Milliner (41.30), Luke Weiks (42.22), Connor Tebble (42.25) and David Quelch (45.51).
Best MG up to 2000 ccs to Geoff Messer, 2001 ccs and Over Dave Roberts.
