MT COTTON HILLCLIMB SERIES (Redlands Coast AdventureFest hillclimb) - Round 3, 16 - 17 May, 2026


Again this year the club joined the City Council AdventureFest programmme of activities.


The threatened rain for Saturday did not eventuate whilst the predicted rain on Sunday arrived an hour earlier and curtailing the eleventh run. The Top Six Shootout was not run.


On the new track configuration the fastest half dozen times on Saturday were Warwick Hutchinson with a 52.44 until issues with the differential curtailed his weekend. Ross Mackay was next with a 53.17 time, Neil Lewis (54.34), Jim Milliner (55.95), David Quelch (57.73), Camm Morris (58.35) all in the Formula classes. Quickest of the Sports cars were Jason McGarry (63.00), Ainsley Fitzgerald (66.07), Jim Heymer (67.51) and Jon Young (68.43). Scott Anable recorded the fastest time for Sedan cars with a 59.61 with Tyson Cowie (61.21), Daniel Youd (62.79), Hannah Youd (64.27), Glenn Anable (64.58) and Michael Bird (64.88). 


Sunday saw the Regularity class to Shaun Rankin (BMW Z4) followed by Stephen Callaghan (MGB), Chris Lake (Toyota 86) equal with Robert Martin (Daihatsu Handi) and Jeff Watson (Subaru WRX).


Group wins in the Historic groups went to Greg Schildt (Ford Cortina Mk 1 Gorup Na, 76.92), Glen Wesener (67.17) and David Malone (69.08) both in Holden Torana GTR XU1 in Group Nb whilst Ross Rundle took the Group F in his Reynard FF82 with a 65.74 time.

Fastest of the Sports cars was Jason McGarry (Caterham R300, 63.00) then Ainsley Fitzgerald (Arrow Clubman, 65.67) Jim Heymer (Farrel L, 66.86) Jon Young (Caterham Super 7, 68.43) Andrei Shinkarenko (Saker SV1, 72.45) Jeff Graham (Mazda MX5, 75.78) Denis Cotton (Porsche 914, 76.74).

 

Quickest ten times set in the Sedan car classes were Scott Anable (BMW turbo 59.61), Tyson Cowie (Ford Escort, 60.92), Ian O’Hara (BMW, 62.18), Daniel Youd (Honda Civic, 62.34), Hannah Youd (Honda Civic, 62.82), Waco Hamlin (Honda Civic, 63.42), Glenn Anable (BMW 2002, 64.56), Brendan Merrick (Datsun 120Y, 64.84), Chris Balhatchet (Renault 65.84), Michael Bird (BMW 66.45).


Fastest time of day was set by Dean Amos (Gould GR55B, 50.36) with Warwick Hutchinson (OMS RPV, 52.44), Ross Mackay (Macspec, 53.17), Connor Tebble (Speads RM11, 55.18), Neil Lewis (Fly001, 55.34), Jim Milliner (OMS 2000, 55.95), David Quelch (Homebuilt DPQ003, 57.73), Camm Morris (La Base Crosskart, 58.15), Mick Harders (Esprei KZ, 58.28), Paul Van Wijk (OMS Hornet, 59.75) forming the fastest ten in the Racing Formula classes.   
During the eleventh run for the weekend the predicted rain arrived ending the competition runs as well as the Top Six Shootout.  


Next event at Mount Cotton is the Cottons Creations Queensland Hillclimb Championships scheduled for 30 and 31 May.
