MT COTTON HILLCLIMB SERIES- Round 3, 21-22 June, 2025
The weather reports on the nightly television announced a fine weekend followed by rain on the Monday and Tuesday. Unfortunately this was not to be with light rain throughout both days. Given the wet surface most drivers of formula cars and those on full slicks kept their cars on their trailers waiting for a dry track..
The conditions meant interesting decisions for those in the Regularity nominating their times. Robert Martin lost least point in his Daihatsu Handi (down 28 points) from Shaun Rankin (BMW Z4, 36), Geoffrey Messer (MGB, 70), Chris Lake (Toyota 86, down 89) with Lindsay Derriman (Toyota Vienta, loss of 170 points).
Fastest twelve times: Jim Milliner (OMS 2000, 45.29), Luke Weiks (Empire 001, 47.04), Brendan Merrick (Datsun 120Y turbo, 50.32), Jeff Graham (Mazda MX5 Supercharged, 50.75), Terry Sproston (Aussie Race Car, 50.86), Brendan Beahan (Toyota Sprinter, 53.35), Michael Bradtke (Audi TT, 53.44), Geoffrey England (Ford Falcon EB, 54.00), Chris Balhatchet (Renault Megane turbo, 54.25), Anthony Loveridge Volks Wagen Golf R32, 54.40).
Historic class wins to Barry Smith (Group K) Ford V8 Special and David Malone in Group N in his Torana GTR XU1.
Given the conditions the drfiving standard by competitors was great as there was no requirement to rescue any stranded vehicles.
We hope for fine weather for the next event on 26 - 27 July.
