CLUB RUNS
The Club offers its members the opportunity to take part in two types of runs. One is the Day Run held on various Sundays throughout the year and the other is the Mid-week run held regularly on the fourth Wednesday of each month. There is also one weekend away, usually held in July.
These runs are organized to allow time for socializing as well as enjoying a drive with fellow enthusiasts.
Details of meeting times and places for the runs are advertised on the Calendar page of this website and also in the Octagon. A contact name is always given so that you can check on the latest details of the run.

MIDWEEK RUN - 26 October, 2011 |
|
The run
started from Rocks Riverside Park at Jindalee. Although Kerry and Val
Horgan had organised the run, Kerry could not be there as he had been
admitted to hospital the night before. We all wish Kerry a speedy
recovery. Despite the upheaval, Val had all the run instructions and the
sign-on sheet ready and was travelling with David and Meryl in the Magnette.
We
arrived at the Walloon morning tea stop without losing anyone except
that Greg and Rhonda needed to get home as Rhonda was unwell. We also
hope that Rhonda is recovering OK. With crews refreshed, we headed off
on the second stage to Moogerah Dam via Mt Alford. A small hiccup
involving a U turn for some cars occurred enroute when the leading five
cars missed a turn off. It turned out they were just testing the
navigators of the following cars to see if they were awake or just
following along blindly.
All the
group arrived in Haigh Park but not in the same order as they departed
from Walloon. So lunch was had and stories were told before it was time
for us all to head off home. The weather stayed fine for the day, the
group was happy and all was well with the world.
Concluding note: Blair Salter, another of our regular midweekers, could
also not attend the run due to illness. Please get well everyone we miss
you all. |

MID WEEK RUN, Wednesday, 28 September, 2011
- |
We departed the Bunyaville Forest Park a little after 9:30am on a fine but overcast day with 16 cars. By skilled application of pre-planning and rendezvous techniques, we also managed to have Jan Bourke join us enroute as we drove through the Albany Creek area.
The route took us along less used roads past Lake Samsonvale through Young’s Crossing, Morayfield, Upper Caboolture and the Wamuran area to finish with a twisty climb up Campbell’s Pocket Road to Mt Mee for a picnic morning tea overlooking the Glass House Mountains.
From here, we travelled down the south side of Mt Mee, with a diversion along Ocean View Road (well, everyone except the chap in the camino gold MGB who missed the turn) to Dayboro, Clear Mountain and finishing next to Cedar Creek at Andy Williams Park for a picnic lunch.
Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the drive, the roads and the views. A very big “thank you” to Kevin (Big Kev) Trower who did sterling service keeping an eye on everyone as our tail end Charlie (aka sheepdog).
Another great Wednesday out with great company.
