The MG ZT, recently launched in Australia as the first sporting MG sedan for 20 years, has been repositioned in the marketplace with aggressive new pricing, making it even better value for money against its European sports luxury competition. The move comes soon after MG Rover Australia’s ownership change and is a result of a re-evaluation of the market and improving exchange rates.
The MG ZT 190 manual and 180 automatic are now priced at $56,990. Both have a sports-tuned 2.5 litre quad cam V6 engine, five-speed gearbox, big ventilated discs with ABS and EBD, xenon lights and a luxurious interior with deep leather and cloth sports seats. Completely revised under the skin with new steering, lowered sports suspension and 18” wheels, the ZT has already been acclaimed as “a new front wheel drive benchmark” by local motoring writers.
For those wanting even higher levels of comfort, the MG ZT 190+ and 180+ are now available at $59,990. Added features include dual zone automatic climate control, Alcantara and leather sports seats, reverse parking sensors, trip computer and an auto-dimming rear view mirror. An electric glass sunroof is a $2,995 option.
Playing an almost unique role in the range is the MG ZT-T sports wagon, a stylish yet versatile load carrier with sports car handling and looks. The ZT-T is now available from just $59,990, with the luxurious ZT-T+ priced at $62,990.
MG Rover Australia’s new managing director Michel De Vriendt said: “One of our first priorities was to ensure that we have the best products at the best possible prices. The MG ZT is a brilliant car but with these new prices, putting it thousands of dollars below the equivalents from Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Saab and Volvo, the new ZT and ZT-T should now prove irresistible to those looking for a sporting European luxury car.”
