PAST MASTERS
OF THE HILL |
 |
|
After having been sent a few shots of
members from past, which were quite appropriately labeled "Past
Masters of the Hill", we decided to dedicate some pages to our
past by adding photos that our members would like to send in.
Should you wish to contribute, please
email them as an
attachment to the club.

Some more photos for the
past masters. The photos were taken in late 1974.
The car is the ecurie
escargot, with Chris Lake driving it, and Tim Harlock in one of the
photo's. |
It show's how things have
changed.

Here's some photos and comments from
Ted Holliday:
Having never been one to
back away from a good dose of nostalgia, I am herewith providing you
with a selection of pics of Club activities from the 60's. I will
leave them unnamed for the moment to provide some entertainment for
the Club members from this era as they salivate in their nursing
homes waiting for their next meal. They may or may not remember the
people in the pics or they may prefer to forget them altogether, ...
With regards to that pic of Elaine Hamilton driving the B, I am
surprised that no one recognised the front seat passenger as that
dreadful bastard John Weinthal.
|
John was the motoring writer
for the Courier Mail in the mid 60's, I had the misfortune to share
a flat with him before he was deported to the colonies. What I find intriguing about this pic (apart from Kerry's hair and
teeth, I'm sure either one or the other is his own) is that the B
appears to have no steering wheel although Elaine does seem to have
the classic "All crossed Up" hand position on a wheel or is she just
drying her nails?
Club members, past and present , must have pics and slides from this
era tucked away in albums etc, it would be great if they could be
given an airing on your web site.
Regards.

I object strongly to the use of the word DREADFUL by ted holiday
in the words accompanying his amateur brownie picture set. I shall
have the third member of our exclusive flat set - one doktor ian
corness - deal with him when holiday next ventures thailandwards.
yours forever
john weinthal - ex-everythingunderthesun |
ps: these days weinthal can be heard pontificating in wholly
subjective manner about new cars on better class provincial radio.
these words are also devoured by the reader of the chiang mai and
pattaya mail newspapers; organs of some erudition i assure you. |

Here's some more photos and
comments again from Elaine Hamilton. |
 |
 |
Brian Tebble is the driver
in his MG; I don't know who the brave or foolish person is on
the sled but, judging by Kerry's body language, he was a bit
perplexed by it all.
This is dated as April 1964. |
This one is at the same
gymkhana and it's a competition (I don't think we would have
been allowed to call it a race!) between two sled pullers. The
first one is Brian Tebble again but I don't know who is in, or
behind, the 'B'. |

This is the line-up waiting
to compete at the sprint meeting at Lowood in June 1964 -
there are a few MGs there but I was concentrating on
photographing my Mini (on far right). |
